Habanero Caribbean Red
The Habanero chilli (originally Spanish "Javanero", and sometimes incorrectly written "habañero") is one of the most intensely spicy chilli peppers of the Capsicum genus.
Like all Capsicum, the habanero pepper originated in South America, most likely the Amazon basin or nearby coastal regions. Upon its discovery by Europeans, it was rapidly spread around the world, to the point that 18th-century taxonomists mistook China for its place of origin and called it “capsicum chinese” — the Chinese pepper.
It’s Chinese Lantern shaped fruits ripen from pale lime green to a warm rich red and are considered the “hothouse flower” of the chilli world. These fruits are harvested only when fully ripe in order to capture their fruity, citrus-like flavour and floral aroma, we then use them to make our jellies and jams.
